Middle Years Programme

Middle Years Programme (MYP)

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is for students aged 11-16 and is a five-year programme. The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.Students who complete the MYP are well-prepared to undertake the IB Diploma Programme (DP).

The MYP curriculum

The MYP curriculum framework comprises eight subject groups, providing a broad and balanced education for early adolescents.

MYP Personal Project

MYP projects are student-centred and age-appropriate, and they enable students to engage in practical explorations through a cycle of inquiry, action and reflection. MYP projects help students to develop the attributes of the IB learner profile; provide students with an essential opportunity to demonstrate approaches to learning (ATL) skills developed through the MYP; and foster the development of independent, lifelong learners. The personal project provides an opportunity for students to undertake an independent and age-appropriate exploration into an area of personal interest. Through Personal Project , MYP prepares students for this responsibility and cultivates students’ motivation, agency and capacity for lifelong learning.

What is Service As Action?

Service as action leads towards a set of developmentally appropriate outcomes. It helps students develop their personal understanding, their emerging sense of self and their developmentally appropriate responsibility in their community by engaging them in-depth inquiry that leads to action.

The following learning outcomes identify the substance of students’ self-reflection on service as action.
