Mr Ankur Upadhyay, a seasoned educator, has spent 20 years of his career in the International Baccalaureate (IB) education domain. Of these, he has spent 15 years in exploring the IB philosophy.
He comes from the lineage of educators and teachers.
He is self-reflective leader who understand the effects of race, class, ethnicity, income, gender identity and other issues of difference in our society and has personally worked in similar communities to ensure all students have an opportunity to achieve their personal dreams of college and career success.
His leadership style is to inspire and ignite curiosity and he devotes time to coach and strengthen the team while holding them accountable to measurable results.
Mr Upadhyay is known for creating a culture that values collegiately and accessibility, with open doors at all levels. His shared mission is to mould the young minds into thoughtful, responsible adults not just by providing a multi-faceted education but also by celebrating each child’s individuality that he/she brings to the shared learning experience.
He fosters a learning environment for students and staff and follows the IB Learner Profile. He has experience of implementing and supporting well-being practices, and he actively engages and supports student and staff to build roadmap to the development.
He initiates activities that support a strong internationally oriented school culture, enhancing roots of different cultures. He has been a pioneer in collaborative development and implementation of school goals and plans, and is known to provide development programmes for his staff.
Right from childhood, he has been actively participating in social work, which has reflected in his creativity, activity and service (CAS) initiatives in his last 10 years. This has played an instrumental role in awakening empathy for the needy among the student groups of varied ages and an urge to take action to solve socio-economic problems of the community by active participation.
As DP Coordinator, he took various initiatives and pioneer practices to guide students for selecting best career, which is reflected in their placements.
He has served as the MYP Coordinator and IBDP Chemistry Teacher for a span of 5 years and led the way as the IBDP Coordinator from 2016 onwards.
He visited Malaysia to understand Chemistry further from International Professor.
Currently, he is serving as the Head of School at Calorx Olive International School.
An eloquent speaker and a trainer, he is frequently involved in facilitating staff training workshops aligned with IB philosophy and requirements.His certificate repository includes various curricula such as State Board, Cambridge accredited — IGCSE, AS and A Levels, IBO accredited programmes PYP, MYP and IBDP programmes.
Over the course of 20 years, eminent organizations have independently awarded him Best Teacher of the Year more than once.
Mr Upadhyay has steered and always has been an integral part of various new practices implemented at school. Few of the major milestones that he conceptualized include organizing and felicitating soccer tournaments at inter-school level.
To cater to benefits of physical and emotional health, he has been a promoter and controller of the annual cyclothon events. To address international mindedness, he started events such as Model of United Nations, Navratri Fest and other major cultural events.
